JMCFI initiates institutional accreditation; JMarians anticipate official results

After months of arduous and diligent preparations, JMCFI wraps a level 1 accreditation visit from PACUCOA on November 10-11, 2022. It is the Founding President’s vision that the institution embarks on a continual enhancement of its services to the constituents and in adherence to this mandate, the JMCFI management committee, headed by Dr. Felix C. Chavez, Jr., School President, and Ms. Rosemarie N. Dimagnaong, School Administrator, set out its intent to be accredited under the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities · Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA, INC.).

With its application for accreditation with the PACUCUOA, the Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. (JMCFI) gets formal visit from the accrediting agency on November 10-11, 2022.

Having submitted to PACUCOA a letter of intent and a compliance report indicating substantial and satisfactory compliance with the recommendations of the Preliminary Survey Team, the schedule for a Formal Survey Visit was set for JMCFI.

The PACUCOA visit started with an orientation on the proceedings of the said visit. It was then followed by the Virtual Campus Tour with a presentation from the Information and Technology Office and presented by Lord Vincent Van Mendoza, the program emcee.

Present in the accreditation activity were the following accreditors from PACUCOA: Dr. Flordeliza A. Castro as the Chairperson, and the one assigned to Philosophy and Objectives and Organization and Administration (All Programs); Ms. Cristina Price, the accreditor for Faculty, Instruction, and Laboratories (Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education); Dr. Noli Valera, the accreditor for Faculty, Instruction, and Laboratories (Business Administration); Dr. Dennis Lagumen, the accreditor for Faculty, Instruction, and Laboratories (Criminology); Dr. Clarissa F. Delariarte, the accreditor for Faculty, Instruction, and Laboratories (Psychology); Dr. Khalchuchi Caballes, the accreditor for Faculty, Instruction, and Laboratories (Social Work); Mr. Michael Harold Pagsuyuin, the accreditor for Faculty, Instruction, and Laboratories (Junior High School and Elementary); Dr. Lourdes Fumera, the accreditor for Library (All Programs); Engr. Bernard S. Villaverde, the accreditor for Physical Plant and Facilities (All Programs); Dr. Glenn R. Andrin, the accreditor for Research (All Programs); and, Ms. Joana Fe Panganiban, the accreditor for Student Services and Social Orientation and Community Involvement (All Programs).

A simultaneous Zoom conference came after the virtual presentation which was then followed by a Virtual Focus Group Discussion in the afternoon.

On the second day of the visit, a series of breakout conferences continued. The PACUCOA also made class observations among different levels and programs in Integrated Basic Education (IBED) and College alike. It was also the time for PACUCOA to have a dialogue with the non-teaching staff and the partner community.

The visit was concluded with a closing program wherein both parties extended their appreciation for the time, energy, and effort in the conduct of the accreditation activity.

Afterwards, the JMCFI employees celebrated the success of the 2-day visit by sharing in the sumptuous banquet prepared by the admin. With this very overwhelming closure, Dr. Felix C. Chavez, Jr, the school president, declared a one-day break from classes and work for all teaching and non-teaching staff of the IBEd and College departments.

The preliminary visit, which is a prerequisite, was done on October 18-19, 2021.

“I congratulate and appreciate everyone for compiling the extensive proof and other necessary paperwork for this institutional accreditation. After completing our work, we are now eager and prepared to learn the results of our diligence and hard work. We all performed a fantastic job, and based on our lead accreditor’s assessment, I’m optimistic we have a good chance of achieving our aim on the accreditation’s main goal”, says Dr. Felix C. Chavez, Jr., School President.
